Flower Market in Tokyo
We have several flower markets in Japan.
The biggest one is the Ohta flower market. It is a centre of industry and
handles huge amount of flowers/plants in a day.
Today, I am going to guide you Setagaya flower market, which is much smaller
but quite sophisticated. This market locats in a very nice residencial
area in Tokyo. I frenquently come to this market, becuase it is very close
to my place, also well consutructed building. The parking is located on
the same floor as the wholesellor shops. I am so happy that I do not need
to take any elevator nor staircases to access the parking area when I carry
flowers back.
Enjoy the market tour!

Entrance to the market
Two sundry shops |
It seems not so many people during summer. It was around 7 o'clock in the
morning. The busiest season is in March for Ohigan(ancestor's day) , May
for mother's day, and Christmas/New Years period. It may be hard for you
to imagine how crowded this market is just before Christmas time.

Many summer flowers from
all over the country. I appreciate the quality of flowers. |
You may be aware that we still do not use bukets to contain and transport flowers from growers to flower shops. If the system is organized, we can get much fresh flowers. |
